I.
Tortomanu
The Pentecostal Church from Tortomanu has experienced a
constant growth of the church body. At this time the building that we are
using is very weak and in the danger of falling down. It was designed to
be a home and not a public building and it cannot host more than 25-30
people in it. This is why it has become necessary to expand the work that
God is doing through the construction a new building.
We are currently raising funds to pour the foundation and to ship the
building materials package from Canada for this new church building. We
are pressed to raise $36,000 USD by August, 2006 to initiate this project.
We own the land in a very good area of the village and the project is in
the process of being approved now by the mayor of Tortomanu.
II. Houses destroyed by flooding
Over the years, our church supported about 10 families to
build a house. Due to the recent devastating floods that ravaged Romania,
two of those houses from the village of Pestera were severely damaged by
the flooding. Also, another family with 9 children from Cuza Voda has gone
through the same situation. That house is already destroyed.
The amount needed to rebuild these homes is $ 4-5000 USD. We believe that
God will provide a way for us to help these families build for themselves
new homes.
III. Medgidia Community Center – Soup Kitchen
This
is extremely “fresh” good news. Last Wednesday, March 29th, Bethelehem
Church signed the papers for receiving an important donation, the building
of the Medgidia Community Center. The building has a total of 9000 sq ft
and it is located in the area where the church has been involved over the
years. We have been using it in the past, as partners of a Canadian
agency, Hands for Humanity. Now that the title has been transferred to us,
it is our responsibility to make investments and implement the projects
that are vital to bring change in our community.
Over the
last two years, we have run there in partnership with the city of Medgidia
a Soup Kitchen. For five months (during the winter) we have provided two
meals to the poorest of the poor of Medgidia.

120 people are served each day from this project. Our cost to run this
project for the 5 months was $2000 USD. God gave us good favor with the
local government authorities, so they subsidized the remaining portion of
the cost. Nevertheless, this $2000 spent for utilities was borrowed in
order to fulfill our part in the project and we have to raise this amount
to pay it back.
Also, now we are starting to implement the vision God gave us for this
Community Center. This will comprise “the social arm of Bethelehem
Church”. There we plan to offer help in most needed areas of our city.
Already we have started a Farmacy, a Public Library, an education facility
for kids that did not go to school and are not able to read and write. In
the future there is going to be there a training facility for people for
getting a job, counseling for families, a shelter for homeless people and
a medical clinic. In order to make this building usable (the exterior has
been renovated, but the interior had very little investment), we have to
raise $9.000 USD. Also, the city has urged us to put a fence around the
building, and that will cost us about $3500 USD. (It is going to be 700 ft
long.)
IV. Ilie Solomon
Brother
Solomon has been a devoted church village leader in Cuza Voda for seven
years. About a year ago he was ordained to ministry. He is gifted as an
evangelist in the village and as a leader. As time has passed, Solomon’s
right hip has developed a severe trauma to the rotator. The heads of the
bones have rubbed off completely and the cartilage is destroyed. Brother
Solomon is only 30 years old.
After many sleepless nights and sometimes the inability to stand for more
than 15 minutes, the need for transplant surgery became vital for Brother
Solomon’s ministry. Without surgery, his condition is progressing and will
eventually lead to losing the ability to walk. As one can only imagine
being single and yearning to be healthy in order for God’s work to become
more effective has been a real challenge. With a monthly support from the
church of $60 per month, and unable to have a second job due to his
physical disability, paying for a surgery of this type only seems
impossible. But we know that through God, and with your help, all things
are possible!
Please consider sowing a financial seed towards Brother Solomon’s surgery.
The cost for transplant surgery is $2,000 USD. The amount is not much if
you look at the spiritual investment for one man’s devoted ministry.
Psalms 126: 5 says, “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy!” Brother
Solomon has suffered in physical pain for many years. Here is an
opportunity for you to share with him joy in reaping physical healing and
hope for the advancement of God’s kingdom!
Thank you for your support and love for Bethlehem
Church - Medgidia, Romania.
