 Helping people help themselves!

It always a rewarding feeling to help someone help themselves! That’s what Hands for Humanity is doing in Romania. We have built 10 chickens barns to date. Our chickens growers Veronica & George in Lumina have been very successful and now have a 1000 chickens in their barn. We all know that “handouts” don’t work for the long term. What people need in most third world countries is a “hand up”. A handout lowers their self esteem and creates a dependency on the donor. A hand up helps people help themselves and makes them feel good about becoming self-sufficient and as a result their self-worth and self-esteem increases! Thanks for helping us help people help themselves!

In May my Uncle Hardi moved to Medgidia to work for Hands For Humanity. He has been busy running the feed mill, managing the crops, preaching in the local churches, and etc. Besides all that work he’s been doing, Uncle Hardi has also had time to find himself a wife. On October 30th Uncle Hardi will be getting married to Sister Beti Meduta from Medgidia. We are very happy for both of them and wish them God’s richest blessings!

“we still need sponsors for 10 homes @ $10,000 each…please pray for provision for the Mangalia Social Housing Project.”

Mangalia Social Housing Project

Community development is a primary focus of Hands For Humanity. HFH is partnering with the City of Mangalia in an exciting project to integrate Gypsies into the Romanian society. The first phase of the project includes 18 small homes. The second phase planned for next spring will include a kindergarten/ alphabetization school building. The building will also serve as a church/community for the Romi living in that community. Please pray for provision for this project. This project will require funds to purchase building materials, donations of building materials, and team of volunteers to complete the construction this fall.

“a church group from Wales has agreed to sponsor the Tuzla Community Centre project and has committed to raising the $25,000.USD still needed to complete the project”

Tuzla Community Centre

Tuzla is located 25km.south of Constanta, Romania. The Second Baptist Church from Constanta has been planting a church in this village over the past five years. HFH has acquired a parcel of land in Tuzla to develop a community centre building which would serve as a daycare centre, alphabetization school, and a place for the church to meet. A church in Wales has agreed to sponsor this project has committed to raise the $25,000USD still needed to complete the project. They will send a team of young people to Romania on March 25, 2005 to complete the construction In the meantime, Hands for Humanity will be shipping the construction materials from Canada while Martin Sommer our field coordinator there prepares for the team.

“please pray for the Sommer family…also that God would provide the funds needed to cover their living expenses while in Romania.”

Sommer family has moved to Romania

Martin and his wife, Clazina along with their five children arrived in Mangalia, Romania on August 28th. Martin is a framing contractor and house designer, just the kind of person we have been praying God would send to Romania to help coordinate the many building projects we have on the go in that country. Please pray for provision to support the Sommer family while they are in Romania for the next year.

“thanks to all who generously gave and to those who came and helped bring this project to reality.”

Medgidia Church dedication in Sept.

After four years of hard work and believing God for miracle after miracle, Betleem Church in Medgidia finally has a church building that is substantially complete. The church is planning a dedication service on Sept. 26, 2004. Thanks to all who donated to this project. Pastor Vasi and his team are making a tremendous difference in Medgidia and surrounding communities. It’s been exciting working together!

“special thanks to our dear friends who sponsored this project

Valu Lui Traian church holds first outreach event in June

Marcel Iordaci is a local church planter from the Basarabi Church and has made it his mission to plant a church in the town of 15,000 people just west of Constanta. In June the church was finished on the inside and a special outreach event was held with great success. The exterior of the church still needs stucco and will be completed this fall.

“because of your generosity, this church building in Mangalia is nearing completion”

Mangalia church completion this fall

Thanks to our faithful donors this project is nearing completion as well after 6 years of construction (or should I say waiting for funds). Interior work is progressing and a team from a church in Suceava will come in October to do the exterior stucco.

“…we’re almost there! Please help us finish this home for street kids.”

Our Hutterite friends from Manitoba have been big contributors towards this project.

Project Romania Rescue rescues kids from the streets of Constanta. Hands for Humanity is honoured to be able to help PRR carry out their mission. Please consider making a donation towards the $10,000 still needed to complete this building and get it filled with kids.

“we need 10 sponsors who’ll commit $100 per month to cover the operating costs of the Medgidia Community Centre”

Your gifts help us make a lasting difference

Hands For Humanity supports Betty Meduta and her ministry team by providing space in our community centre for programs that reach many poor children in the city of Medgidia. Please pray for Betty…she’s making a BIG difference in many little lives! Please help us fund the operating costs of the community centre so that Betty and other missionaries and church groups can continue to have free access to a building which allows them to carry out their mission of “letting God love His children through them”.

Your gifts help us be a blessing to those less privileged!

Your gifts towards child sponsorship help us complete projects that will make a difference that will last through eternity. Because you give, HFH is able to ship a container every month filled with clothes, food, medical equipment and construction materials. Here Martin and Roman prepare to unload the a container load of framing lumber and truss components at our warehouse in Mangalia.
